Love Me Jhoom

Following through with my constructive/optimist phase, I decide to use my time creating music. I am no Mozart - not even Gulshan Kumar (RIP), but I do have a guitar shaped icon constantly staring at me since I got my laptop. Garage band is a decent software - at least for beginners like me.

So I start out playing a simple tune on the virtual piano, and record it. Its sounds okay, until I discover some handy tools that make it sound pretty cool (according to my standards, of course). Next I decide to play around with some songs. I look through my playlist and choose the strangest combination. I work with it for quite sometime, getting somewhat impatient after a while, but still very excited about what I'm doing. I come up with this useless piece of music, which sounds nothing less than Mozart to my ears :)

The song is quite funny - Beatles' "Love me do" and the title song from "Jhoom baraabar" mixed in the weirdest way possible. I would love to share it with everyone - but unfortunately I couldn't figure out the way to convert the format of the file. Garage band doesn't let me create a wave or an mp3. Does anyone know how I could change the format?

For a first attempt, I think I was pretty good. We have the cool pro-tools software on campus, and I used it last quarter for my Sound Recording class, but I am more interested in creating music than in just mixing sound. These cool softwares give me an easy escape from the guilt of being musically challenged. I doubt I'll ever master any musical instrument in my life. These softwares may not be able to replace real instruments, but I think they come pretty close to the real thing.
