Hangovers are horrible. But the worst is the kind that refuses to say goodbye. I spent my first half of yesterday in deep misery. And the second half in the residual pain. I think even my hangover (HO) realises that it's okay for it to stay longer..as it arrived on a Saturday morning when I'm far away from family.
My HOs back in Delhi did not act so leisurely. It was touch and go for them. As soon as my parents screamed for me from their breakfast table - i had to clean up - give my face and odor a regular morning feel - and drink glasses full of neembu paani (lemonade) to de-dehydrate myself.
What preceded the HO was much nicer. I had gone to my american classmate's house and had a nice time finally meeting the rest of my department people. They are all animation and I'm live-action - that's how we divide the film department. So the discussions ranged from life in upstate NY to Indian cities to faculty bitching to US-Canada rivalry.
I was just too happy to chat with this one cute boy who I had noticed on the Orientation day. Yeah - it's funny - I do sometimes notice cute guys! But I think I got more interested in him when I got to know that he speaks Japanese. That's exactly what we are told about the characters we create - the more out-of-the-ordinary they are, the more interesting they become.
So I was very curious about him - and unfortunately he was the bartender for the night.
Thus, lots of good conversation and my HO! :)
