Last night was strange. I saw "There will be blood", but that wasn't the strange part. Daniel Day-Lewis is brilliant. He is just brilliant. It wasn't really my kind of film, but I went in with the intention of observing camera angles, lighting, sound, characters, story structure, etc - and I think I did a good job - because I noticed the abrupt score that was way too loud at different points. The beginning was great - with no dialogue for over fifteen minutes - and it set the rules for the whole film. The oil drilling sequences were heart clenching. My favorite lit part was a shot in the orchard - light was falling through the cover of big green trees. The large fire scenes were also good but I've seen better shots of oil burning in a documentary. On the whole, it was a good experience, and worth the $5 that I paid for it :)
After the film, RH and I met Mel and Adam. More on that when I come back from applying for the stupid NY state ID.
