Okay so I have been feeling low - the kind of low where you can't put your finger on the problem.
Anyways, so I had been thinking of talking to my Spanish professor about my Spain plan - and finally I did! But before my Spanish class I had to meet my professor who is also my employer and gives me a meagre pocket money.
We did the usual work-talk that primarily consists of him saying I will soon have that ready for you so that you can start working on it. And then he said do you have any questions. This is usually the part when I say no, I don't and see you later! But today, as I was not my usual self, I decided to indulge him.
I asked him about the next quarter - in a way confirming if it will be less-doomed than this one (don't believe me, this is the time I exaggerate). Then I told him about my vague idea for the spring film that he will help us make. He went on to talk about my idea for almost an hour. He gave me new thoughts and directions that I can start working on right away. He congratulated me on my idea - and said you better not change it now, because he loves it so much. I told him about the problems I'm facing in my classes, and he gave me lengthy, but sound advice. I left his room ten past noon for my Spanish class, feeling somewhat relieved. On the way, I ran into another professor who hasn't taught me any courses yet, but is lovely and supportive. So I see she's busy and leave her alone. Then I go on to my fifty minute Spanish class, fifteen minutes late. After the class I insist on giving my mid-term exam that I had missed last week. My professor wants me to give it tomorrow, but then she agrees. After the exam I sit with her and talk about everything - my study abroad plans, my classes, american undergrads etc. She too tries her best to make me feel better. I thank her and leave.
I realized today how I have all these nice people who are meant to guide me - all I have to do is ask :)

yo espanol estudante
Speaking Spanish is so much fun - though I can only manage the very basics of introductions - let me practice it here - but I don't know how to get the accents for the Spanish script - never mind - as if anyone here will know what I'm saying! :)
HOT GUY - Hola, senorita!
ME - Hola! Buenos diaz!
HOT GUY - Buenos diaz! Que tal?
ME - Como estas?
HOT GUY - Muy bien, gracias. Y usted?
ME - Mas o menos.
ME - Como se llama usted?
HOT GUY - Me llamo Hot Guy. Y tu?
ME - Me llamo BIG BLUE SHOE. Encantada.
HOT GUY - Mucho gusto. De donde eres?
ME - Soy de Neva York. Y tu?
HOT GUY - Soy de Hotguyland.
ME - Hasta luego.
HOT GUY - Hasta pronto, senorita!
THE END
In the next episode, Hot Guy and Big Blue Shoe will exchange telephone numbers, addresses and will talk about the colors of the objects around them! How exciting!
Adios amigos!

Spanish update
So it's not as easy as I had imagined!
I had three Spanish classes last week. The class is fun - the instructor is hilarious - and sort of weird. But most of the class has done high school Spanish - so they know a lot already. And I will have to miss one class every week - so I'm afraid I will really lag behind!
Week two begins tomorrow. I should go to campus early and study Spanish before class. I also need to start some form of exercise - dancing was supposed to be the solution to this - but one hour per week is too less.
And my partner....wuuaahhh!!! :(
But just the thought of going to Spain and speaking Spanish and dancing the Salsa in the Summer with a hot Spaniard....aahhh... okay, okay...that's enough...I got my answer ;)

life begins on monday
So the roller-coaster ride begins in a day. My schedule is crazy this term. The one thing that I'm most excited about is my Spanish class! And that also happens to be the first class on Monday!
I hope I survive this term!
Muchas Gracias!
Buenos Nochas!

Viva el EspaƱol

So I started reading "The Complete Idiot's Guide to learning Spanish on your Own"! Such an ego-boost!
Went easily through the first chapter - it was more like a mother trying desperately to inspire her child to do something she knew the child didn't want to do. Worked quite well for me! Though i'll know for sure only if I keep going..
I did get an interesting idea while reading the book. Since I already have an english to spanish dictionary, I have decided to post-it objects around me with their spanish names and pronounciations. Not a complete idiot, huh?!? :)
So the deal is that the more I work on my Spanish now, the easier my life will be in the next two months. I will be studying Spanish in class starting December but I will also have many more "important" things to do. I really really hope I can overcome my limited linguistic skills!
This calls for a reminder of my goal - Granada, here I come...
P.S. - I didn't spend money on "the complete idiot's guide..." - it's an online book. Told you - not a complete idiot.. ;)
